A 1993 graduate of Red River College’s Creative Communications program, he began his career in television at IMTV in Dauphin, followed by memorable stops at CKX in Brandon and then MTN (now City TV) before joining CTV Winnipeg as sports director.

Over the course of 19 years at CTV Winnipeg, Churchill covered a wide range of major events, including multiple Grey Cup games, world curling championships, Memorial Cup hockey tournaments, Pan American Games and other national championships. He also hosted coverage of the Winnipeg Jets’ return in 2011 and remained a steady presence behind the desk and on the sidelines during all major sports moments in Manitoba.

Churchill often explained that some of his greatest moments in the industry involved reporting and producing the Sportstar of the Week segment, which highlighted Manitoba’s top amateur athletes.
