Jeff Blair is a distinguished Canadian sports journalist whose career began in Manitoba and has spanned nearly four decades.
A native of Morden, he attended the University of Manitoba, where he served as sports editor for the campus paper. After graduation, he began his professional career at the Winnipeg Free Press, covering sports for five years with precision and insight.
In the early 1980s, Blair joined the Calgary Herald, contributing thoughtful reporting on Olympic seasons and regional sports stories. He then moved to the Montreal Gazette in 1987, where he became a prominent voice covering the Montreal Expos. His next move was to The Globe and Mail in the late 1990s, where he wrote insightful columns on the Toronto Blue Jays.
Blair’s versatility extends beyond print. In 2010, he joined Sportsnet, hosting The Jeff Blair Show on Sportsnet 590 The FAN and co-hosting Baseball Central. He also appears regularly on Blue Jays Central and contributes analysis for Sportsnet’s baseball coverage. In addition to his broadcasting, he authored Full Count: Four Decades of Blue Jays Baseball, a well-received book published in 2013.
His decades of consistent reporting earned national recognition in 2018 with the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame’s Jack Graney Award. That same year, he became the lead voice of Blair & Barker, a popular MLB podcast.
